Finding Hope

What do Abraham Lincoln and George Washington have in common, other than the fact that they were both Presidents of the United States of America.? No, it wasn't that they were both left handed or had both lost an eye - it is something else. But more of that in a moment.

Most of us will share something identical or similar with other people in Swindon There’s one thing, though, that we all have in common – that is our desire to find real meaning in our everyday lives.

Such things as our families, work and hobbies are very important to our wellbeing but even they can leave us empty on occasion. True fulfilment can only be found in life when our dreams turn to hope, and that hope turns to reality. For many people, in Swindon and across the world, that fulfilment only comes from our relationship with God, through Jesus.

This may be a common experience but it is also an intensely personal one. Through all the ups and downs of life, through all the dead ends and fast motorways of a spiritual journey, God is there with his hand on our lives.

The bible reminds us that God calls us to come to Him where we will find “..rest for our souls” in the midst of our busy lives (Matthew 11 verse 29). I know today that when I need help - and I invariably will - I can turn to God and He will be there.

PS I too share what Abraham Lincoln and George Washington have in common. We are all snorers!
