We might all be self-isolated but we still have plenty going on with lots of opportunity to meet others, make new friends and share life together.

God sees and knows what is happening. Let’s pray for our world and look for opportunities to share God’s love.
The decision to cancel meetings will have significant implications for GHBC’s Ministries. It is important to keep in touch and we are looking at the ways we can do this through the Home Groups and Care Groups as well as maintaining contact through the teams you work in so well. Please be particularly aware of those who are elderly or isolated or have limited access to social media/the web.
Please let me or one of the Pastoral Care team know if you have any particular needs. We won’t be able to visit you, apart from exceptional circumstances, but we will be able to talk and hopefully help in other practical ways
Maintaining our spiritual life
We are also considering ways in which we may support and deepen our spiritual life. We will endeavour to keep in touch to advise you of how we can do this safely and as effectively as possible. We’ll also share details of websites and resources you can access.
Working with others
I have been in close contact with colleagues from the Good News for Swindon network (GNFS). We are seeking ways where we can share resources, both practical and spiritual, which will be a true expression of the Kingdom of God.
Please keep an eye on the news items on the church web page as such opportunities arise.
Blessing our neighbours
This is an opportunity to both discover and express something of who we are as God’s people- a people blessed to be a blessing to those in our wider community.
Many who are not yet followers of Jesus are going to be watching and listening – watching how we react and what we have to say. Let’s consider how we might support the foodbank and those who are homeless and rough sleepers.
I am setting up a small team who can coordinate our response to needs and opportunities. Rather like COBRA we will aim to meet regularly to match the offers of help we have already received to the needs we are or become aware of.
If you are able to help in any of the following ways, then please get in touch with me (email or text)
- cooking meals for delivery, collection now or freezing (delivery later)
- helping with shopping
- collect prescriptions and medication
- co-ordinating the admin to enable this to work
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
